CRCSI-2 Roadshow Presentation

On 19 November 2009, Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) hosted presentations by Peter Woodgate, Chief Executive, and Mike Ridout, Communications Director, from the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRCSI). Peter and Mike presented to a mix of government officials and representatives from industry and the spatial sciences sector.

Download

Download Peter and Mike's presentation:

About the presentation

Peter and Mike's presentation outlined:

the business model of the renewed venture, known as CRCSI-2

the history and general purpose of the initiative

opportunities for New Zealand to become part of the success story.

The eight-year CRCSI-2 initiative will focus on applications in the areas of health, energy provision, agriculture, defence and security, and urban development, and will involve creating infrastructure that will benefit both New Zealand and Australia.

LINZ supported CRCSI's successful re-bid and is now a partner in CRCSI-2. LINZ is establishing a New Zealand coordination point for CRCSI-2 activity, including recruiting for a dedicated role to lead this, in cooperation with other sectors.

Capability Mapping of the New Zealand Geospatial Sector

NZGO worked with the Geospatial Research Centre (GRC) in 2007 to design a survey on the capability of New Zealand's geospatial sector. In January 2008, the GRC published a report on the survey's findings, which include a number of opportunities for, and barriers to, the sector's development.

Download

Download the final report:

Capability Mapping of the New Zealand Geospatial Sector (PDF 144KB)

About the project

The survey covered forty of New Zealand's leading geospatial companies, universities, government organisations and research institutes. It captured information on a range of issues including: geospatial activities (current and planned); key numerical indicators (including revenue, staff numbers, expenditure on equipment hardware and service); and details of current partners and clients.
