The winners of the Great NZ Remix & Mashup competition coordinated by Digital NZ were announced last week. A significant number of the winners and entries use geospatial information!
For example the $10,000 Supreme Mashup winner uses Department of Conservation walking track data in a mapping context. The best geo application for mobile winner is Yachter Mobile for a smartphone, tablet or laptop which gives up-to-date weather conditions for yachties in combination with information from multiple other sources including Land Information New Zealand tidal and nautical data.
The competition was a great demonstration of the use of open government data and also the use of creative commons licences.
