Coffs Harbour City Council in New South Wales, Australia, are making use of new Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology to map the region's vegetation.
The LiDAR imagery is being used in combination with infrared imagery and a specialist software package to pinpoint data across the entire local government area. The resulting model will allow local government to better share accurate vegetation data with other agencies and help create a clearer picture of the ecology of the whole Mid North Coast of Australia.
