Invitation to Provide Feedback on the Value of Spatial Information

Date: 5 May 2009

Spatial information is already being used by many New Zealand organisations to improve their business. NZGO, through Land Information New Zealand, Department of Conservation, and Ministry of Economic Development, has commissioned a project team to deliver a report estimating the value of spatial information to the New Zealand economy.

Case studies are a core component of this project and will provide sector-specific benefits that will be used as inputs for an economic model. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in contributing to these case studies.

The project team is comprised of members from ACIL TasmanSinclair Knight Merz (SKM) and Ecological Associates

What's involved

The project team hopes to talk to several people in relation to each case study (say, producers and users of the spatial information who may well not necessarily be from within the same organisation).

The team has developed a questionnaire that seeks comment on how spatial information has been adopted in your industry and, broadly, to answer:

  1. How do you use spatial information (and since when)?
  2. What sort of impact has it made (e.g. on costs, productivity, output, and benefits)?
  3. What impact could it have made if various barriers had not been there (and what are the barriers)?
  4. What impact could it make in the future both generally (i.e. where you see emerging applications), and if the remaining barriers are removed?

Keen to participate?

The questionnaire and full details on how you can participate are available here.
