Land Information New Zealand’s (LINZ’s) purpose is to maintain and build confidence in property rights in land and geographic information as well as encourage land markets to develop and mature. For many years New Zealand high schools have struggled to introduce GIS to their students. Feedback we’ve received has indicated that restricted computer access, budget constraints, and minimal access to comprehensive New Zealand centric lesson plans using GIS have all contributed to this struggle. read more
"The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) today voted to establish a committee of experts on global geospatial information management to coordinate international dialogue on spatial data infrastructures and enhance cooperation in that field" (UN News Centre, 27 July 2011). read more
We recently selected Koordinates Ltd to design a web solution for us by July next year, allowing users of our geospatial information to easily locate and download the data online. read more
On 19 April I was happy to chair the inaugural meeting of the Geospatial Steering Committee (GSC). The GSC was convened as the governance arm of the New Zealand Geospatial Office (NZGO) to help guide its programme of work and report to the Geospatial Executives Group (GEG). read more

Through our survey and title services we provide certainty of property rights. We remain an authoritative source of land and geographic information for emergency services and safety use.
