Goals

The Strategy was developed in 2006 to better coordinate and manage the use of New Zealand's geospatial resources across all tiers of society. It addresses the increasing reliance on geospatial information in New Zealand and the opportunities offered by the new digital environment for efficiencies in the collection, management and provision of that information. Find out more about the goals of the Strategy and the key ways in which it aims to achieve them.

Vision & purpose

Geospatial information supports a wide range of business, government and community activities - from emergency services response and defence planning to Treaty of Waitangi processes, the provision of health services and helping to find local schools. Find out more about the purpose and vision of the Strategy in supporting the safety and security of New Zealand, our economy and our culture and environment.

Who's involved

NZGO is the coordinating body for implementing the Strategy. However, a number of organisations participated in the Strategy's development and a range of organisations have ongoing involvement with it. Find out more on who governs the Strategy and who was involved in its development.
