19-22 October 2009 - Hanoi, Vietnam
International Federation of Surveyors conference The International Federation of Surveyors conference is to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam in October 2009. The theme of the conference is "Spatial Data Serving People" with sub-theme: "Land Governance and the Environment - Building the Capacity".
Vietnam has developed its own National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) based on digital topographic data base at the scale 1/50,000 and cadastral data base covering the whole country, including the National Permanent PS network and SPOT5 receiving station. The NSDI of Viet Nam has been effectively serving to control natural resources exploitation, protection of the environment and forecasting natural disasters and potential consequences of climate changes. Moreover, the NSDI of Viet Nam plays a vital role in bridging the information gap between the Government and its citizens, pushing for administrative reform and protecting people's land rights.
Each of the three days of the technical conference has a specific theme and keynote presentations:
The concept of the regional conference will follow the concept of previous FIG regional conferences that has proved to be successful. The conference will last for four days: three days for technical sessions and one day to a joint technical visit to Ha Long Bay with a cruise in this magnificent nature heritage.
