Coordinating New Zealand's Membership in the Group on Earth Observations (GEO)

Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) is currently the delegate for New Zealand on the Group on Earth Observations (GEO). As New Zealand's delegate, LINZ is keen to ensure that New Zealand obtains the maximum benefits from participating and contributing to GEO.

Being part of GEO, New Zealand has an obligation to support this group. And we have expertise that we could contribute, particularly around use of geospatial data to support environmental and sustainability efforts and ground truthing of observations in this region. In return, New Zealand could benefit from participating, including:

  1. obtaining data (particularly around the Pacific Islands)
  2. tapping into knowledge and skills in the GEO network, such as relating to reducing lose of lives from natural hazards. Find out more about upcomming GEO workshops.

If you are interested in being listed as an alternative contact to directly receive material sent from the GEO Secretariat to delegates please contact us. Alternatively, you can join the GEO-NEWS mailing list by emailing the GEO Secretariat.
