Date: 30 January 2009
NZGO worked with the Geospatial Research Centre (GRC) in 2007 to design a survey on the capability of New Zealand's geospatial sector. In January 2008, the GRC published a report on the survey's findings, which include a number of opportunities for, and barriers to, the sector's development.

The survey covered forty of New Zealand's leading geospatial companies, universities, government organisations and research institutes. It captured information on a range of issues including: geospatial activities (current and planned); key numerical indicators (including revenue, staff numbers, expenditure on equipment hardware and service); and details of current partners and clients.
Commissioned by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), the survey was undertaken to help NZTE gain a better understanding of how it can best support the sector.
