Andy Coote Presentations

On 22 and 23 April 2010, Andrew Coote, a director of ConsultingWhere Ltd gave a number of talks to the New Zealand geospatial community. More than 100 people came along to the presentations organised by the New Zealand Geospatial Office.

Andy spoke about his experiences in setting up spatial data infrastructures in the UK and Europe, and the lessons learned. Good spatial data infrastructures allow an organisation to make the information they produce easy for others to find, share and use.

Andy presented his company's recent research on where geospatial information might be heading over the next five years. He also looked the business implications, organisational changes required and the return on investment that comes from adopting geospatial technology.

Andy had had many years of experience as a leader in the UK geospatial community. He has had leading roles in European spatial data infrastructure efforts, and is a founding member of the Association of Geographic Information in the UK.

I attended Andy's presentations on Friday afternoon. It was a very informative and worthwhile session. Andy provided insights into a number of UK and European initiatives, outlined a number of key challenges as well as models to assist in making progress. Thanks Kevin for hosting these sessions.
