About the New Zealand Geospatial Office (NZGO)

The New Zealand Geospatial Office (NZGO) is the coordinating body for implementing the New Zealand Geospatial Strategy. Activities carried out by the NZGO in support of this include:

  • promoting greater capture, access and interoperability of geospatial data
  • advising government on policy for geospatial information
  • facilitating communication between members of the geospatial community
  • supporting an all-of-government work programme under the Strategy
  • supporting the transition to a revised structure, approved in early-2009, for the governance of the Strategy.

NZGO has a reporting line within Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), as well as to the Geospatial Executives Group in order to maintain a sectoral approach.
